What is “hosting”?
Every site needs a place to live, that is, where all the necessary files reside to make a website work, this is called “hosting”. To make this process easier for our clients and to provide excellent customer service, we offer our own hosting plans but if you already are using another company’s hosting plan, no problem we can create your website on the current hosting server that you already are using.
If you choose to use our hosting, there is NO FEE for making your site live when the site is complete (this includes pointing your domain name to the correct server, changing all the testing URLs in the database and making any necessary adjustments to the hosting environment).
However, if you choose to purchase hosting through another company such as GoDaddy, we are happy to set up your website on their servers for a fee.
Hosting plans come basically in two flavors for most website use, shared hosting and VPS hosting. Larger websites for those a very large companies use a “dedicated” server but the price is extremely expensive compared to the other two options.
If you would like a really good shared hosting plan than we recommend GreenGeeks Hosting. Please click on the link at the bottom of this page for more information.
Difference Between VPS (Virtual Private Server) Hosting Plan And Shared Hosting Plan
In a nutshell VPS hosting is better all around than “Shared Hosting” but it comes at a higher price.
VPS (Virtual Private Servers) generally is faster than “shared hosting servers” because it is not shared with hundreds of other websites on the same server sharing the same resources thus slowing down your website. It is also less prone to be down because of some other website’s issue that may arise on the server.
So what is the difference between a shared hosting plan and a VPS hosting plan?
As the name implies a shared hosting shares server resources with other websites, whereas a VPS hosting has its own dedicated resources thus having a website’s performance perform faster.
Having a shared hosting plan is not bad, if you don’t have a large website and only a few pages than a shared hosting plan will be good for you. And the host is a fraction of a VPS hosting plan.

E-Commerce
Depending on your type of business, you may want to add an online store or online donations. The first way is to add a PayPal shopping cart that enables you to sell a few items easily without investing too much money into a system. This option is less expensive and simpler to use. The second option is to use a full e-commerce solution such as Woocommerce. This option is more expensive, but is more robust and offers many features the PayPal shopping cart does not. Not sure what to choose? We are happy to discuss both options with you over the phone – just give us a call at 508.542.7037 or fill out our contact form with your questions.
SSL Certificates
SSL certificates are used to secure and encrypt websites during the exchange of information. It is highly important that you have SSL certificates installed on your website. As a matter of fact, Google now asks for all websites to have an SSL certificate. Google warns that any website that does not have an SSL certificate installed will drop in their search rankings.
Premium Plugins
On all our websites we use specialized premium plugins to give a better user experience to both the website visitor and the website administrator. A plugin is a specialized coding script that performs a specialized function on a website. Some of these plugins do specialized work such as using logic on certain forms and or displaying certain information on a web page. The form used in this website estimate calculator was made using such a plugin.
